Yesterday by sunset
I wished you were by my side
that the sky were ours, once more,
that our worlds were not far apart after all
Yesterday by sunset
I remembered the sly twinkle in your eyes
And the reverent and contemplating feeling
that one only knows before a naked soul
Yesterday by sunset
The air smelled like grandmas' pie
Wild berries playfully smiled at me
and sang the last strophe of your favorite poem
Yesterday by sunset
I saw white clouds in your eyes
shining, protecting, hiding, dressing
Your soul, me, the clouds in between
Yesterday by sunset
I asked the wind if he had heard from you
He dramatically shrugged his shoulders
and gently pointed the sunset
